2024 Lotus Eletre is the Electric Super SUV We’ve Been Waiting For

The Lotus brand, now owned by Chinese automaker brand Geely, has been world renowned for making some of the most awe inspiring, light-weight sports cars on the planet. The Lotus Eletre, however, is no sports car. And it is certainly not light weight. Weighing in at 5,500 pounds, the Eletre is large and in charge. The Eletre is meant to be a volume mover for the Lotus brand to allow them to stay profitable and keep making their signature sports cars.

Lotus Eletre Performance Specs

As with every EV, range is at the top of the list for concerns. Performance EV’s are also notorious for having gut-wrenching torque figures that quite literally throw you back in the seat.

Lotus Eletre EV Range

The best-case scenario for EV range for the Eletre is 373 miles using WLTP standards. The WLTP uses stricter testing with more real-world simulation, so this 373-mile figure should be fairly accurate of what owners will experience. The higher performance R trim will receive a larger battery pack for a greater emphasis on performance. This performance boost will lower the total EV range down to about 260 miles. The higher performance R trim comes with 22-inch rims as well which has a negative effect on range.

Lotus Eletre Performance Specs

The Lotus Eletre will come packed with some truly staggering performance numbers for a vehicle that weighs almost three tons.

The Eletre will come with twin electric motors, producing up to 905 horsepower in the top R trim. However, the lower two trims, the Base and S trims, contain a less powerful setup that will still produce 603 horsepower.

The Lotus Eletre Base and S trims will launch from 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds. The top S trim of the Lotus Eletre will launch 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds.

Lotus Eletre Charging Capacity

The Eletre utilizes a 800 volt charging architecture which will grant you up to 250 miles of range after only 20 minutes of charging according to the brand.

Lotus Eletre Interior

After just a few seconds inside the Eletre, you can quickly tell that this is a special vehicle. Between the material choices, color options, ambient lighting, and overall comfort, the interior is one-of-a-kind. I can’t think of any other vehicle that has an interior that feels quite this unique.

Lotus Eletre Pricing

The Eletre will be offered in three different trim levels at launch.

  • Lotus Eletre Base: $115,000 (est)
  • Lotus Eletre S: $135,000 (est)
  • Lotus Eletre R: $155,000 (est)

Pricing is not finalized so we may see some changes still, but these prices are a fair estimate from what we know currently.

Lotus Eletre Storage

The Eletre will come with a small frunk and a rear cargo area that will hold up to 688L (about 25 cubic feet of space).

The Eletre can be optioned with a 5-seater traditional seating setup. However, you can also option it with 4 bucket seats instead. The 4-seater option cannot fold down the rear seats which will severely limit your rear cargo room. The 5-seater folds the seat downs as expected.

Warranty & Maintenance

Lotus offers only a 3-year or 36,000-mile warranty for the powertrain coverage. Sadly, there is also no complimentary maintenance offered at this time.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve got a $150,000 burning a hole in your pocket, and you want a special high-performance EV, this is likely the best option for you. The only other vehicle in this class is the Tesla Model X Plaid which is a much less special car than the Eletre. If you spend time inside both vehicles, you will quickly understand why the Lotus is a better option. The only advantage the Tesla has is a slightly speedier 0-60 and quarter mile times.

With that being said, you can reserve your own Lotus Eletre by contacting your local Lotus dealership or by navigating their website.
