The Infiniti QX80 is one of the last large displacement, luxury family haulers left on the market. In the world of turbocharged and electronically boosted powertrains, the QX80 holds on to a massive 5.6L V8 engine. It has been a fan favorite of the brand, however, it hasn’t always been the most attractive looking vehicle. It may have received a facelift a few years back, but the QX80 and Infiniti as a whole is still behind the ball compared to many other brands.
I do think the current aesthetics of the 2023 QX80 are much better than the pre-facelifted version from a few years back, it’s still not my favorite. However, that looks like it is about to change for the 2024 model year.

2023/2024 QX80 Powertrain
The 2023 QX80 uses the same powertrain found in the Nissan Armada which is a 5.6L V8 that puts out a respectable 400 horsepower and 418 lb ft of torque. This is paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 0-60mph is rated 5.6 seconds which is quite surprising considering the size and weight (nearly 6,000 pounds) of the QX80.
The 2024 QX80, despite going through a major design change judging by spy photos, will likely keep the same underpinnings and powertrain as the 2023 model.

The updated QX80 looks to be more in line with the newly redesigned QX60’s aesthetic, which to me is a wise choice. Despite the current QX80 being a little lack luster on the outside, the interior is one of the best in the industry. Infiniti’s interiors have always been some of my personal favorites and I don’t expect the 2024 to be any different.
Final Thoughts
The 2024 Infiniti QX80 is poised to be a strong competitor to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Cadillac Escalade. If the final product looks anything like the renders we’ve seen, Infiniti may have a best seller on their hands.
