The Lexus GT3 Concept has been around for a little while now. While it is just a concept car, and these things rarely look the same when they enter production specs, it still looks breathtaking.
Some sources are saying that this concept is really just the current gen Lexus RC successor, but we’ve heard from some pretty reputable sources that that is not the case.
I am going to lovingly refer to this enigma of a supercar as the “LFA 2” for now.
Lexus LFA 2 Specs Rumors
Lexus LFA 2 Engine
According to our source, the Lexus LFA 2 is poised to obtain a 4.0L twin turbo V8 with an electric motor. This car is being designed as a GT3 racecar, so it will likely need a 500hp variant for this. However, the production version is expected to have around 700hp.
Lexus LFA 2 Chassis
The chassis will be a blend of aluminum and carbon.
It will be a front engine, RWD vehicle, but I don’t think AWD is out of the question just yet. It will have a rear transaxle, just like the original LFA.
Lexus LFA 2 Release Date
While this is still highly subject to change, the LFA 2 is tentatively expected to release in 2025-2026.
Original Lexus LFA
The original Lexus LFA was an engineering masterpiece. A work of love co-developed between Toyota/Lexus and Yamaha which resulted in the most mesmerizing sounding production engine ever made (in my not-so-humble opinion).
Lexus LFA 0-60
The original Lexus LFA goes 0-60mph in 3.6 seconds.
Lexus LFA Engine
The LFA utilizes a naturally aspirated, V10. Model code is the 1LR-GUE. It also happily revs to 9,000 RPM and reaches peak power at 8,700 RPM.
Lexus LFA Specs
The LFA has 552hp/354lb. ft. of torque and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Lexus LFA Weight
It weighs 3,263 pounds. For comparison, a Lamborghini Huracan weighs 3,172 pounds.
Lexus LFA Top Speed
The top speed is ranked for 202mph.
How many Lexus LFA’s were made?
The LFA only had 2 years of production between 2010-2012. During this time they only produced 500 examples.
Will the LFA 2 Sound as Good as the Original?
Like I’ve said a few times already, these things are subject to change. However, from what we know and heard from initial sightings of the LFA 2 being track tested, it still sounds amazing. It doesn’t quite have the same high-pitched screaming V10 sounds. However, it has a much deeper, throatier exhaust sound that is still intoxicating to listen to. Give it a listen.
We’re unsure if Yamaha will be assisting in the development of this engine at this time.
While most details about the LFA successor are still quite secretive, I can’t help but get excited with anticipation for this future legend.
