2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Redesign Looks like a Korean Range Rover!

The Hyundai Santa Fe has been a slept on offering from the Korean powerhouse brand. The current 4th generation model offers affordable luxury with some high-quality drivetrains. Despite this, the Santa Fe has always fallen to the wayside for Hyundai SUVs, landing somewhere between the Tuscon and the Palisade. However, the 5th generation model aims to end that. The all-new Santa Fe has an iconic, unique design that we’ve never seen before from any of the Korean automakers. Yet, the overall dimensions of the vehicle are very reminiscent of a Range Rover LWB. The new headlights are very special and look like large illuminated “H’s”.

The side and rear profiles really point out the shape and dimension similarities to the Range Rover. The way the rear panels have a s slight incline from the wheel well up to the rear bumpers are very reminiscent of recent Range Rover designs. The similarities seem to end there, however. The new rims are elegant and quite large. Judging from the press release photos, these look to be around 20″ wheels. The overall length of the vehicle seems to have grown a bit as well.

Interior

From the inside of the new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, we see a remarkably simple, yet elegant design. There’s a storage shelf similar to how the Toyota RAV4 has right under the main dashboard. There looks to be a good amount of ambient lighting for this class of vehicle. The center stacks looks like the utilize a nice combination of both physical and touch screen controls. The infotainment screen and speedometer are combined into one giant, long screen which yet again makes this vehicle look far more expensive than the price point it actually sells for. Each door card looks to be soft touch and use some very elegant materials. I also really love the stitch work and overall looks of the dashboard. I think the AC vents are integrated seamlessly into the overall design, as well.

Hyundai also added some interesting photos into the press release that will lead us to believe that the Santa Fe may now be a realistic option to take through some light off-roading and go camping for a weekend. This image shows that the new Santa Fe will have the capability to hold a roof-top tent for sleeping. It also shows off just how much added room is in the back of this redesign.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Powertrains

We don’t have confirmation of powertrains for the new Santa Fe just yet, but we do know a few important things. One of which is that Hyundai/Kia/Genesis are making a strong push towards full electrification of their vehicle lineup by 2030. This means that they are likely not developing new internal combustion engines because the R & D would be wasted money. I think the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will almost certainly carry over the same powertrains as the current model. These include:

  1. Naturally aspirated 2.5L four cylinder
  2. Turbocharged 2.5L inline four cylinder
  3. 1.6L turbo hybrid
  4. PHEV

The base engine will be the naturally aspirated 2.5L which truthfully may not be enough power for the new vehicle if it really has grown as much as the pictures suggest. The turbocharged engine, the hybrid engine, and the PHEV all were incredibly good powertrains to drive when I test drove them in the current model. The PHEV will likely be most expensive but it will also provide the most power and best fuel economy. I think the 1.6L hybrid is the best bang-for-buck in terms of cost, power, and fuel economy.

Final Thoughts

I’m a big fan of the all new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe and I think it is going to become a big seller for the brand. We shouldn’t have to wait too long to see it arrive at dealerships either. Rumor has it that we will start seeing the new Santa Fe’s arriving at dealerships in the next couple of months. Until then, stay tuned to Torque Chase for updates on pricing and release date.
